That arrived today, but I am seeing exactly the same behaviour with the new one as with the old one. Unfortunately I don't have any other TVs in the house to test it on, but at this point I assumed the problem must be the Chromecast, so I ordered a new one. The TV doesn't receive any software updates (it's not a smart TV - just a normal panel), but just in case I did a factory reset on the TV as well. I've not changed any settings on the TV since it was last working. Obviously I can no longer test casting anything to it without setting it up, but the rest of the behaviour is consistent with what I was seeing before the factory reset. The Google Home app can detect the Chromecast and attempt to set it up, but nothing appears on the screen - I've got as far as the step that asks me to confirm the 4-character code, which I can't see because the screen is black. I saw a progress bar while it was resetting, and then the same bootup screens followed by black as before. I've tried a factory reset of the Chromecast. Looking at the Chromecast in the Google Home app shows that it believes it is displaying the Ambient graphics. I've tried connecting other devices to both HDMI ports, and they display correctly. I've also cleaned the HDMI port on both the Chromecast and the TV using contact cleaner, and there's no change. I've tried connecting the Chromecast to the second HDMI port on the TV, and get the same result. Again, casting a video will play the audio but not the picture. I saw the "Chromecast." bootup screen and the Google logo animation, but it then goes to a black screen and stays that way. The TV confirms that it is receiving a valid 1080p 60Hz signal, but that the picture happens to be all black. I found that the screen was displaying all black, but if I cast something I would hear the audio from the video, but no picture. ![]() ![]() For some time now it has all worked correctly, until I came to use it the other day. I have a 3rd-generation Chromecast connected to a TV. Not entirely sure what they did, as all that happened on the call was that we rebooted it again, which I'd already tried multiple times. I gave Google's support a call and they were able to solve the issue. EDIT: Thank you everyone for your advice.
